Revelation over Reason

To cite the words of many a computer user on the occasion of a new achievement in the digital realm, “Hello World.”

Starting a blog has been on the list of things I’ve wanted to do for a number of years, but I generally lack any inspiration to write intelligently on a consistent basis.  However, this morning I had enough desire to write that I mustered the courage to click the three or four buttons that are necessary to attach a blog to my Google account.

One obstacle almost killed my fledgling blog before it even took its first flight into the World Wide Web, and that was the process of choosing a domain name.  My brain wanted something timeless, profound, and distinctly “Isaac-ish” but nothing was coming to mind.  Fortunately, I had a quote from Lewis Sperry Chafer’s Systematic Theology floating around in my head (it’s been there for almost two weeks actually) and “Revelation over Reason” became the newest blog name in the blogosphere (at least for the next .00045 seconds).

Since the events of this morning and the birth of a blog I’m continuing to grow more and more fond of both the idea of writing stuff on blogs and the title of my blog.  I need an outlet to write the stuff that rattles around in my head but never becomes ordered enough to be communicated.  Hypothetically this can be a place for me to think things through for my own benefit more than anyone who reads it.  At the same time, the fact that people may read my posts is a good motivation to write thoughtfully, conversationally and well.  Who knows…maybe John Piper will be following me someday…(that was a joke! haha!)

As for the title…Maybe it’s not timeless, profound, “Isaac-ish” (I couldn’t have thought it up) and it probably won’t apply to everything I write.  But hey…It’s what I’m thinking about right now, so I’m happy!

Grace and peace be multiplied.

  2. Does the lack of posts mean that you aren't thinking about much during this Christmas break? :)

  3. Angie, I've been thinking much! I just haven't FINISHED anything I've started writing! :P I've got two half-complete posts in the wings, and just started another one about thirty seconds ago. Maybe this one will get posted???

  4. OK Angie this is horrible. As an example of how hard a time I have starting a post, I started one post five minutes ago, wrote one sentence, got distracted and started another one. LOL
